World Ethnic Music Ensemble comprises of six musicians from different countries and musical expertise. Master Percussionist and Musicologist Fakhroddin Ghaffari formed weme in New Delhi in 2010. Fakhroddin is an Iranian Percussionist who specialises in Tombak and various Middle Eastern percussions. Since he moved to India in 2002, Fakhroddin has shared the stage with many big artists, such as Abida Parveen and Hans Raj Hans. Throughout this time he has studied Indian classical music both on tabla and sitar, developing a unique musical vocabulary between Persian and Indian musics. It is this rare sensibility that led to the creation of weme. The ensemble captivates audiences with its original blend of Persian, Arabic, Indian folk and classical, Western folk and jazz music. Fakhroddin, together with sitarist Fateh Ali Khan (India), guitarist Loic Sanlaville (France), cellist Nawa Lanzilotti (USA), rabab player William Rees (UK), and tabla player Mohit Lal (India), color the music with distinct tones and shades while speaking together in harmonious conversation.
